Senior Section 9-12

 They participate in a special separate program, which offers more challenging activities appropriate for their age group and interest level. The camper to counsellor ratio in this section is a maximum of 10:1. Senior campers will take part in their specialty program for half the day, and ‘regular’ camp programs and activities for the rest of the day.

2019 Options

The 2019 Senior Specialties are still to be determined and will be updated shortly.  But, to get an idea of what the options could be made available, here is the 2018 list: 

1. Day Tripping All Sessions (except for weeks 2 & 8 when campers are on the Camping trip)

  • Day Tripping is the Traditional Camping Stream, but with a special flare for our Seniors! Each week, campers in this stream will go on two day trips around the city.

2. Overnight Camping  Session 1 and Session 3 

  • Highlighted by a three-day, two-night camping trip (during the second week) to Kelso Conservation Area in Milton, Ont.
  • On-site camping skills program, such as orienteering, mapping, nature education and outdoor cooking.
  • A Mooredale Day Camp regular cook-out lunch, recreational swimming, camp theme days and special programs.

NOTE:  Because of the number of days missed while on trips, this stream does not include daily swimming lessons, but does included the Recreation swim time on the days students are on site.

3.  Tennis  Session 2 and Session 4

  • Instruction from a Tennis Pro at Mooredale Tennis Club three afternoons a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) from 1 – 3 pm.
  • Red Cross Swimming lessons
  • A day trip to a local venue
  • A Mooredale Day Camp regular cook-out lunch, recreational swimming, camp theme days and special programs.

4.  Soccer  Session 1  & 3

  • Instruction from certified Mooredale Soccer Club coaches and technical staff
  • Daily soccer activities, drills, instruction and competitions from 1-3 pm.
  • A Mooredale Day Camp regular cook-out lunch, recreational swimming, camp theme days and special programs.

5.  Photography  Session 2 & 3

  • Daily skill development and instruction from 1-3 pm
  • Trained instruction from a local photographer 
  • A Mooredale Day Camp regular cook-out lunch, recreational swimming, camp theme days and special programs.
  • Red Cross Swim Lessons

8.  Performance Swimming  Session 3

  • Daily skill development and instruction from 9 -11:15 am
  • Trained instruction from Mooredale Pool Club certified swim instructors
  • A Mooredale Day Camp regular cook-out lunch, recreational swimming, camp theme days and special programs.

Note:  While swimming proficiency and skill is sure to greatly increase, this program does not include formal Red Cross Swim lessons and evaluation.

Mooredale Day Camp is proud to be accredited by the Ontario Camps Association. The OCA works to preserve, promote and enhance the camp experience for children and adults. Mooredale Day Camp has voluntarily submitted to an independent appraisal completed by camp experts and has met up to 300 health, safety and quality program standards, from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. OCA Accreditation is a parent's best evidence of a camp's commitment to health and safety.
